Kihocho, Mie Prefecture 2023/9/11-14

With the cooperation of the Mie Prefecture and Kiho Town Hall , the entire Arikawa Laboratory conducted a field survey and seminar camp .

9/11

In a lecture on community medicine by Dr. Shinnosuke Morimoto, who is currently active in Kiho Town, we learned about the things we cherish and the know-how to use when communicating with people. In a workshop using the "414 (Good) Cards," we learned about the things we cherish (and want to cherish), the thoughts of others and their backgrounds, and it was a good opportunity to think about "death," which is something we don't usually think about.

In the evening, we had a social gathering with the people of Kiho Town. The people of Kiho Town kindly provided us with meat, vegetables, and drinks (it was delicious, thank you very much!!)

From the very first day, we were able to enjoy the best part of camping - BBQ - and deepen our friendships!

9/12, 14

During the field survey, we collected information necessary for the evacuation simulation, such as buildings, road widths, and block wall heights, and also took videos to use for photogrammetry. Based on the information obtained, we will strive to create an evacuation simulation that is more suited to the local situation and return it to the community as research results.

9/13

The Disaster Prevention Division of Kiho Town Office guided us around the World Heritage sites of Mie and Wakayama prefectures. We gained a lot of power from the many historic shrines ! And we will never forget the taste of the fresh tuna we enjoyed at Katsuura Fishing Port!

@ Tobyukinotaki Falls Campsite

The Tobiyukinotaki Campsite where we stayed for three nights is "located at the stopover point to the Kumano Sanzan, which has a history of 2000 years, and is home to a beautiful waterfall that was once praised by the feudal lord of Kishu as "snow falling like droplets"" (quoted from the website), where we were able to experience various leisure activities while enjoying nature. We also had the chance to enjoy the extraordinary experience of BBQ and curry, which are unique to campsites^^

Through this field survey, students' awareness of disaster prevention has improved. As members of the Coast and Harbor Research Laboratory, we will always think about what we can do and do our best in future research activities. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone in Kiho Town and all the other related parties who cooperated with us.

We look forward to your continued support.
